Electric Vehicle Cooperation between Australian Governments (EVCAG)

fleet - car bonnetsSeveral states are now planning, or contemplating, electric vehicle trails. There are significant benefits to be gained by different trials looking at the different situation found per State. However, CO2 Smart believes there are research benefits and cost synergies to be gained by the right level of cooperation between the State trials. 

We are suggesting that this cooperation could take place under the umbrella of an initiative we call the Electric Vehicle Cooperation between Australian Governments (or EVCAG). CO2 Smart will be proposing to the States planning, or contemplating, an electric vehicle trial the following level of cooperation under EVCAG:

  • Cooperating on research objectives – having State’s focus on their particular strengths
  • Sharing data, results and insights
  • Pooling purchases where it can lead to lower materials, equipment prices

We believe that by each State setting own trial priorities and conducting own trials, combined with a level of cooperation proposed under EVCAG, would lead to the most effective approach for Australia overall.
